SYNOPSIS

100 Young Americans chronicles Emmy Award-winning photographer Michael Franzini’s cross-country journey in search for the answer to one question: What does it mean to be an American youth today? The answers will surprise you.

Gorgeously photographed and meticulously researched, 100 YOUNG AMERICANS represents one man’s passionate study of American youths today. From Alaska to Florida, from Maine to California, Franzini traveled to all 50 states speaking to hundreds of diverse teens - including a broad array of ethnicities, cultures, socioeconomic groups, and educational backgrounds - to learn what it truly means to be a young adult in the United States. For each of the 100 young people profiled in the book, he spent hours interviewing them and their parents, capturing the conversations on video and taking rolls and rolls of photos. Ultimately, 100 YOUNG AMERICANS is a sociological study that captures Franzini’s journey and celebrates American youth through stunning photography and incredible narratives; it shows readers that there is no singular description that can accurately capture the beauty and individualism of American youth today.
